Please read the post below about my updated office hours.
Here's the plan for this week:
Tuesday: catch-up/corrections. Some of you didn't finish last weeks assignments (I might have assigned too much, or we're all getting bogged down with all of this remote learning/quarantined stuff), so go ahead and work on finishing the work from last week if you need to. Some of you didn't finish or do assignments from the first week or two--when you click on assignments on Khan Academy, at the top it says Active and Past--you need to click on past to see the older assignments and get those done if you haven't. One of you still needs to do Renaissance, and one of you needs to redo it. If none of the above applies to you, you can redo assignments that you scored below 60 and improve your scores.
Wednesday: two assignments for today. One of them we started learning before spring break, the other you should be able to think through. Graphing Quadratics in Factored Form--there are two dots that you can move around to position the graph. Remember to use zero product property to find the x-intercepts, and the vertex is located where? Yes, that's right, it's halfway between the x-intercepts. And now that you have the x-coordinate of the vertex, you can plug it into the equation to find the y-coordinate. The next assignment for Wednesday is Quadratic Word Problems (factored form)--please watch the video first! Then just think through the problem--what are you trying to find? What do you know? For which variable do you plug in a value?
Thursday and Friday: The assignments for the rest of the week are sort of new. We hadn't gotten to this content in class yet, but it's stuff you already know--just applied in a way you haven't done before. Please do the assignments in the following order:
Thursday:
Solving Quadratics by taking the square roots --video
Quadratics by taking the square roots intro--practice
Solving Quadratics by taking the square roots examples--video
Quadratics by taking the square roots--practice
Friday:
Solving quadtratics by taking square roots: strategy--video
Quadratics by taking square roots: strategy--practice
Quadratics by taking square roots: with steps--video
Quadratics by taking square roots: with steps--practice
As always, I'm here for you if you get stuck or have questions! I miss working with you all in person!
